this site

this site is my personal weblog/blog/rant/newsletter/infomercial. however you may have gotten here, thanks for stopping by. feel free to read and comment on anything you find...

this is v3 of my personal site, the others being v1 and v2 of course. not only was i long overdue for a redesign, but i wanted something with more power and control. this version of the site was built using movable type, PHP, and BBEdit TextMate (ok, and some fireworks...) i'm also incorporating the RelatedEntries MT plugin (to provide the "more like this" features), the MTAmazon plugin (for the media section), and the MTPaginate plugin (for the photography and media sections).

an rss 2.0 feed of posts is available here, and a feed of my photographs is available here.

unless otherwise noted, all content on this site is © andrew stott.

the photographs

photos taken before 2006 were probably shot with a nikon D100, and more recent photos were shot with a D200. i've had excellent results with color and exposure using both these cameras, so only a select few images have been retouched. most photos are simply JPGs that have been resized and sharpened, but starting in 2007 i have been shooting primarily in RAW and doing more processing.

current gear list:
nikon D200
nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 AF-S
nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 AF-S VR
nikon 50mm f/1.8
nikon SB-800 flashes
pocket wizards for flash triggers

the future

this section always seems to get quickly outdated. so let me just say that i'm working on rewriting photo.stottsan.net in ruby on rails. i would also love to do something with stottsan.net but have no immediate plans.

me

so you really want to know? i live in chicago, where i'm a security engineer for fishnet security. previously, i worked at united airlines doing information security and web development. i'm also the founder of stottsan digital media, which does photography, web design, development, hosting, and various other things...

check out my resume as a word doc or as a pdf if you're down.

of course, you can reach out to me on linkedin or facebook and get connected.

i'm also a mac geek, and i can't get enough of my 15" macbook pro. i also have an aging 733MHz powermac g4 that functions as a file server for photos and music.

my amazon wishlist is online for the holidays, or anytime you feel like it.
